Hmmm... actually I am not sure that they do. AFL grand final day tomorrow, Geelong vs Port Adelaide... Geelong last won in 1963, Port in 2004. Today was Footy Colours Day at school, a fundraiser event for toys for the sandpit. The boy is a true Port Power supporter, even though we live in another state... he chose Port two years ago because he liked the lightening on their jumpers.
The girl, she barracks for the Yellow Ducks! Okay I can see all the Aussie readers scratching their heads right now... there is no team called the Yellow Ducks. Miss B barracks for, and has done since she was 2 years old... the Umpires! They wear yellow, hence the yellow ducks. Sometimes they wear red or green and become the red ducks or the green ducks. This season she has finally conceded that they are not a "real" team, but she still can't decide on a real team to support. Of course that proved a dilemma last night, because Jacob pointed out that she couldn't really go dressed in the colours of an imaginary team. So after much deliberation and unacceptable suggestions from me, they decided to divide up the Power supporters gear and wear half each. Next year she says she is going to pick a "real" team!
So tomorrow we will all be plopped in front of the TV cheering on Port Power. Have been trying to suggest to the boy all week that "they may NOT win"... but he has them holding the premiership cup already. I think we are either going to have one happy little boy tomorrow night or lots and lots of tears.
